Grossi Florentino Grill Room

Swifty prestigious dining

Grossi Florentino Grill Room dining is like a day at the Grand Prix. As you enter the century-old establishment, travel down the long track lined with leather-bound banquette and a full backdrop mirror giving the impression of vastness in the intimate arena. Speed through the order and within a pit-stop, perhaps traditionally smooth cauliflower soup and tangy snapper pieces in saffron sauce are served. As the open kitchen fires up, a lightly egg-battered trevally fillet on a lemony bubble tea, pearl-like cous cous appears. Cross the line with a dense, honey-slurred bread butter pudding, accompanied by thicken cream. You will definitely feel like a winner at the finishing line.

Lawson's Grove Deli, South Yarra

Hidden treasure cafe

Start the treasure hunt around the lush streets of South Yarra and you may come across a hidden gem, Lawson’s Grove Deli. Entrapped between art deco apartments and visible only by its ever-changing signage on the street front, Lawson's serves up an all-day affair of fresh, chef-experimented dishes. Don’t miss the fluffy lemony ricotta cakes with a generous dollop of fresh lemon-infused cream, or perhaps their pizza, perfectly crisp bread pita topped with spicy salami, oozing with mozzarella cheese. With a limited supply of takeaway meals, whether it’s 500g of delish meatballs with pasta or a hearty, lip-splattering zucchini soup, Lawson’s is probably best kept a secret – ssshhh!

Limerick Arms Hotel, South Melbourne

Afresco-twist pub dining

Whether you dine within its premises or outside along one of South Melbourne’s busy streets, you will experience the ‘alfresco’ ambience with Limerick Arms’ wall-lined open windows and doors. Here you will find a wide selection of standard priced pub fare. Sample the grilled chicken salad - succulent chicken pieces with generous amounts of shaved parmesan and spanish onions over a bed of mixed, (but somewhat frail-looking) lettuce leaves. Accompanied by rough-cut chips to fill the hunger gap and a glass of chardonnay from the small but substantial wine list, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy.
